Select the title text clip by clicking on it. Save.ĭrag the saved title text into the upper timeline of your iMovie project, above the clip into which you want to insert the title. Type in your text in the text box that appears on the transparency screen that you created. (If you get a prompt to convert, choose yes.) Then go to Tools/Annotate/Text. That will leave you with a blank transparency screen. To create a transparency, open a duplicate of any random photo in the Preview app on your Mac. That would allow you to adjust the position of the text.

You can also use the Preview app on your Mac to create a transparency screen on which you can type text and insert it into your iMovie project with the Picture in Picture feature.
