I would never even think about purchasing a Chevy again and would strongly advise others to steer clear of this sham of an automobile company. This car is by far the worst lemon I've ever experienced in over 45 years of owning vehicles. And, according to many other people who have had this problem, it is likely to go out again in a fairly short amount of time.

It would cost between $1250 to $1500 to replace it.
2005 chevy equinox coolant thermostat update#
Update from : Turns out, as with so many other people who have had this problem, it is a result of a blown head gasket. So now we have a vehicle with a real, systemic problem and where's the factory recall? The company fixed them and it was just an added annoyance. Had numerous recalls for parts that weren't even a problem. Why is a big company like Chevy/GM allowed to sell a lemon like this and not be responsible for an obvious design/manufacturing flaw? I have owned cars for over 43 years now and:ī. Whereas before the car would overheat when idling, now it overheats when driving or idling.Īs reported by many other people, this seems to be a defective vehicle. They also flushed system numerous times and replaced thermostat. Since it had lots of rust in fluid, we decided it would probably need a new radiator anyway, so we went w/ that. When we took it to a different place for a second opinion, they recommended a new radiator. As with many others who seemed to have this car/problem, this vehicle is for my daughter who is in college.
